The second half proved a tight and tense affair with fewer real chances. For Timber, O’Brien headed over after Karl Thomas’s flick on header, whilst they remained solid at the back. For Brewer, Dean Walker looked a constant threat, however they couldn’t find the important goal to force extra-time. Referee Carl Crabb blew for full time after six minutes of stoppages, however the game was played in a good spirit, and no cards were shown. Cup sponsor Graham Nash from Courier Post awarded the Man of the Match to a deserving Jay O’Brien, however there were a number of contenders for the award, a testament to the efforts of both sides. For DUK Brewer, the end of a long season, whilst Timber return on Sunday to play Reos in the Bob Orme Challenge Cup Final. |
