The Runcorn Sunday League AGM took place last night at St. Michaels Club in Widnes, and was well attended despite the disappointing absence of a couple of established clubs. League Chairman Peter Rattigan opened the meeting and welcomed four prospective clubs: Halton Brook, Centrol Recycling, Webbs and Canal Walk, all of whom were elected into the league later in proceedings. These clubs, added to a further three potential applications, and given that two clubs have folded, mean that once again the trend is one of growth.

League Secretary Eduard Jones presented trophies to Player Of The Year, Perry Hughes (Waiting Rooms), and Top Scorer Rob Hodnett (Teva). Kevin Houghton of NBC was awarded the Ian Thorpe Trophy for Secretary Of The Year, and Wine Bar picked up the Sporting Team Award. Carl Crabb picked up his unprecendented seventh Referee Of The Year award, a testament to his longevity and dedication, as well as his maintaining a high standard of officiating.

Mr Jones then thanked a number of people and organisations who have contributed to the overall successful season, including, Pavilions, Courier Post and SPS Proline, and all the volunteers at committee level. The new season will commence on Sunday 13th September 2009.
